3.1 Shaping an Extended Reality
Using VR technology, users within the Microverse World can employ a head-mounted device to provide an immersive experience through a simulated environment, making users feel as if they were actually there.
For example, users can feel like they are walking in the weightless gravity on the moon, or traversing through a blazing hot desert with an oasis just beyond. By incorporating VR technology into Microverse, we aim to elevate an entirely new experiences for our users, making it so that the Microverse would be akin to a ‘second life’ due to its hyper-realism. Imagine walking into a ‘digital cinema’ within the Microverse World for a movie premiere, or even a concert by your favourite singer. Through Microverse, the distinction between reality and digital will be blurred to create authentic and incredible experiences.
In fact, the Microverse is not just limited to VR technology. We are also working on enabling compatibility with haptic suits that can provide real-time feedback to the body based on what is happening in-world. If a friend taps you on the back when you are walking inside the Microverse World, you can feel a light sensation on your shoulders in the real world. Similar applications can also be made inside games within the Microverse World. For example, you may feel a light haptic feedback based on where you got shot at in action games, or feel a recoil when using a shotgun to blast aliens.
There are many practical applications for the extended reality found within the Microverse:
Retail: Consumers can try new products within the Microverse before they actually buy them in the real world. For example, they can test a new pair of Adidas or Nike sneakers, order them right in the Microverse, and the same physical pair of shoes will then be delivered to them. Users can also browse through furniture items in-game, and test out decorations that they can then adopt in the real world.
Marketing: The Microverse represents a whole new avenue of interactions between consumers and retail businesses; companies that are quick on the uptake would be able to extract huge benefits from the implementation of VR technology in the extended reality. It is up to the marketing professionals to figure out how to use this to their company’s advantages for greater revenue gains.
Sports: Established sports brands can utilize the Microverse for new ways to engage their core fans. They can use VR technology to make their fans relive epic moments in sports history. Through a headset, the fans can feel as if they were right in the middle of the soccer field, watching their favourite soccer star making a goal in a match against their bitter rivals. The Microverse can also simulate the feeling of extreme sports, such as skydiving and surfing.
Real Estate: Potential homeowners may find it easier to shortlist their dream house if they can go through viewings within the Microverse first. They can also explore how the space would look like with their ideal renovations first, without needing to worry about costly interior design costs.
